A playlist for when it rains! – Here are some classic retro numbers for monsoons.

Monsoons have knocked at our doors, yes, it is that part of the year that has innumerable downpours every now and then! An enjoyable time for many, the rains rekindle nostalgic feelings into our hearts. All pitter patter sounds resonate and take us to a different world altogether.

Going dancing out in the rain is a different feeling altogether. But for those who keep themselves away from the rains – GUYS, please try once! Natural showers are the best showers. A hot cup of chai and crispy pakode after a full on drench tastes 1000 times better!

While I’m in no intention of causing anyone to over-time and over the top ‘DRENCH’ and mess up health-wise, yet a little bathing won’t cause any harm!

And if you ask me where to take inspiration from? Well, RETRO-EVERGREEN Bollywood.

Rim Jhim Gire Sawan (Manzil 1977 – Lata Mangeshkar’s version)

A tiny, sugary sweet, beautiful Moushumi Chatterjee goes hand in hand with the tall, *angry?* (Not  here though but every antonym of it),  young man Amitabh Bachhan gallivanting all over the then clean and classic Bombay! This is a classic romantic song dedicated to love and rains!

Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein (Ajnabee 1974 – Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar)

Well, do I even need to explain here? This is the most played Monsoon song, making it more evergreen than evergreen itself. A drenched goddess Zeenat Aman in her pink nighttime maxi dress enjoying the rains with the King of Romance – Rajesh Khanna. This playful video is a staple in every Indian household and probably will keep playing generations after!

Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi 1985 – Kishore Kumar)

A funny, cute garageman Kishore Kumar on a rainy night shift is woken up by a classic, timeless beauty Madhubala as her car breaks down. And the rest is HISTORY! This dreamy song is what comes to mind whenever rains pour down.

Aaj Rapat Jaaye To (Namak Halal -1982 Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle)

Looks like the *tall-angry-young* man has got his fair share of playful romantic rainy numbers. This song has the classic unconventional Diva Smita Patil in a white saree sopping wet, dancing like madness and enjoying in every frame of the video with our ever so wild and jolly Amitabh Bachhan.

Pyar Hua Iqrar HuaLagi Aaj Sawan kiRim Jhim Rim Jhim – oh, Retro has countless numbers!

Binge watch on some and then ask yourself -Is there anything more convincing than this? So, buckle up for whenever it rains next, we wouldn’t be any lesser than a Retro Bollywood MV!
