Diwali is India’s most important festival of the year—a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. Widely observed among more than a billion people from a variety of faiths across India and its diaspora, the five days of Diwali are marked by prayer, feasts, fireworks, family gatherings, and charitable giving. For some, Diwali is also the beginning of a new year.

Today, Dhanteras is being celebrated in the country. The word Dhanteras – Dhan+Teras – means wealth and Day 13. This is because the festival falls on the thirteenth Krishna Paksha day in the Hindu month of Kartik. On Dhanteras, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi with Kubera for wealth and prosperity.

On work front, Amitabh Bachchan next will be seen onscreen in number of projects such as Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Jhund’, Ayun Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ and Rumy Jaffery’s ‘Chehre’.

Apart from these films, Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn are all set to collaborate for a film titled ‘Mayday’, which will also be directed by Devgn. The film will see the two actors come together for a film after seven years; they were last seen together in ‘Satyagraha’.
