Anand Mahindra explains the idea behind bringing back Jawa to India

Jawa motorcycle is going to knock in its native country Czech Republic once again. With this, the 90-year-old dream of the original owner of this brand is also going to be fulfilled.

In fact, when Jari Gerley, the owner of Java motorcycle, sold this legendry brand, he expressed a wish at that time. Gerley wanted his brand to be sold again in his homeland Czech Republic. He sold it to Classic Legends at the time. On Wednesday, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra wrote in a tweet, “Life has come to an end for Java. The Java motorcycle was made by František जेenec in Prague.

Now after 90 years, once again it will be seen in the streets there. On 23 October 1929, Janek introduced the first model of the Java bike. Anupam Thareja, an investor in Classic Legends, said that even though the launching brand would be strong in Prague, it was not easy to fulfill Gerle’s wish.

Thareja said that we were waiting and we did not have a motorcycle to export. But when there is a Czech brand and there is a man who is very nostalgic about this brand and it runs in his veins, then we had to do it. Gerley kept the brand alive and continued to grow.

Despite a long gap, the brand has retained its place in the minds of the country’s bike lovers, historians and photographers. It is known that Mahindra holds a 60 percent stake in Classic Legends, the remaining 40 percent is owned by Classic Legends founder Anupam Thareja and Rustamji Group Chairman and MD Boman Irani.
