#BoycottAmazon trended on Twitter, after writing OM on Doormat

After Tanishq, the famous jewelry brand of the Tata group, now the e-commerce company Amazon seems to be growing difficult. Boycott Amazon’s hashtag campaign is going on social media for allegedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments. The hashtag is also trending on Twitter. People are constantly tweeting their displeasure on Amazon. This resentment is about a doormat in which Om is written.

The site has a doormat on which the symbol of ॐ पवित्र, the sacred symbol of Hinduism, has been used. Not only this, pictures and Hindu inscriptions of Hindu deities are also written in some undergarments. Due to which people are strongly opposing Amazon and are talking about buying it. On Twitter, a user is seen showing the poster. The poster reads, “I boycott Amazon for contempt of Hindutva.” In it, he has also put pictures of some of the undergarments sold on Amazon, which have pictures of Hindu deities.

At the same time, there are some people who are appearing in support of Amazon. Those people say that what is the fault of Amazon in this, it is just a platform to sell goods. If you want to buy, then the seller should do it. This is not the first time Amazon has done something like this. Earlier, the US-based e-commerce company had faced similar opposition for displaying the Golden Temple, the flag of India and the picture of Lord Ganesha on doormats and toilet seats.

Before the festival season, Tanishq was in controversy due to his new advertisement. The advertisement featured the marriage of a Hindu girl to a Muslim family. In this 45-second video, an attempt was made to give a message about Hindu Muslim unity. But #BoycottTanishq started trending on Twitter after the video of the advertisement went viral. After the controversy escalated, Tanishq removed the video from the YouTube channel.
