Businessman’s BJP entry triggers clash

The Bharatiya Janata Party is busy preparing for the West Bengal elections. Where on the one hand a large number of rebel leaders of Trinamool Congress are joining the party. Among them, there are some faces on which many criminal cases are already registered. Old BJP leaders have now raised their voices of protest about this. The latest incident is about a businessman joining the BJP who is accused of smuggling coal. The anthem of protest was that during the rally in Durgapur, the old workers clashed with his supporters to stop the entry of the businessman.

It has been told that BJP’s contribution fair was held in Durgapur on Monday, in which many people had to be included in BJP. However, before Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh and MP Arjun Singh arrived at the event, there was a fight between the old activists and supporters of businessman Rajesh Jha alias Raju at the venue, which was followed by the assault and vandalism.

According to the information, Dilip Ghosh himself took the initiative to induct Rajesh Jha into BJP. However, when he arrived at the event with his supporters, the old BJP workers were angered and attacked the people accompanying the businessman from the chairs. During this time many people climbed on the stage and threw the tables from there. Due to this, the program was delayed and the district president of BJP’s Western Burdwan unit, Laxman Ghorui, had to reach the spot and stop the confrontation.

On the inclusion of the accused businessman in the BJP, Ghorui said ‘The Telegraph’ that this entire area comes in the coal belt and anyone’s trade here can be associated with coal. This does not mean that everyone is a smuggler.

A senior Durgapur police officer said that Rajesh Jha was involved in coal smuggling during the Left regime. He fled to Malaysia and Singapore to escape arrest following a 2011 power change in Bengal. However, he returned within a month of Mamta Banerjee becoming Chief Minister and was arrested and imprisoned. He was then released on bail. However, after the 2016 assembly election, he was arrested on charges of fake currency and illegal arms smuggling.
