How young can the youngest mayor be? You would say maybe 25 to 30, but William Charlie McMillian is 7 months old was made mayor of White Hall in Texas USA. This child became the youngest mayor in US history. The new Mayor Charlie wearing a black tuxedo won the hearts of the people at an opening ceremony among 150 people at the Whitehall Community Centre.

Mayor Charles was elected in October and took an oath to serve the people of Grimes Country this Sunday. He stood on the podium with his adoptive parents Chad and Nancy McMillian and chanted ‘Make America King again’.

If you are wondering how the post of mayor was given to a 7-month-old baby, then let me tell you that a Fundraiser agency supported it. In fact, an agency called Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Fundraiser bids for the mayor position every year. This year, the youngest Charlie was voted the highest, so he was made mayor.

On 20th October, Charlie has announced this year’s winner, entitling him to a year-long term. Charlie’s adoptive mother Nancy said, “Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or an independent, Charlie loves ya.” Perhaps the rigors of the ceremony itself seemed to weigh heavy on Charlie’s mind as he was seen falling asleep on the lap of one of the dance performers in the evening hours.

“I think the event really wore him out,” his mother said. Next month, the McMillians will visit Washington DC to meet Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
