The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, CAB, has been passed by the Rajya Sabha. In the Upper House of Parliament 125 votes fell in support of the Citizenship Amendment bill, while only 105 votes were cast against the bill. This bill has already been passed in the Lok Sabha, now the Citizenship Act 1955 will be amended after the approval of the President. Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday afternoon.
There was a lot of uproar in the Rajya Sabha on the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The opposition proposed to send this bill to the Select Committee first. However, this proposal also fell after voting. At the same time, other opposition MPs proposed to amend this bill, they also fell after voting. Shiv Sena walked out in the Rajya Sabha on this bill and did not participate in any kind of voting. A day earlier, Shiv Sena supported this bill in the Lok Sabha.
