With the redi Go garnering at least some success on the sales charts, Datsun India will soon launch the 1000cc version of its bargain basement hatchback. Basically, the upcoming Datsun redi Go 1000cc model will be to the existing 800cc variant what the Kwid 1.0 L is to its 0.8 L sibling. The Datsun redi Go launch is expected to take place next month. And if price difference between the two engine variants of the Kwid are anything to go by, the 1000cc redi Go could be upto ₹ 50,000 higher than the 800cc variant. It’s highly likely that the upcoming 1.0-litre variant of the sub-compact will be available only in the top-end trim.
Akin to its not-so-distant French cousin, the upcoming redi Go model will get a 1000cc, 3-cylinder Petrol engine that is likely to output a max. power of 67 BHP and a peak torque of 91 Nm. Transmissions choices will include a 5-speed Manual and a 5-speed AMT. The Redi Go is built on the CMF modular platform from the Renault-Nissan group. Other than the addition of a few graphics and badges, the redi Go 1000cc model won’t get any visual changes.

The 1000cc Kwid could command a premium of upto ₹ 50,000 over the 800cc variant. Hence, the upcoming model is likely to cost at least ₹ 3.5 Lakh (ex-showroom). The AMT model will, quite obviously, cost even higher. Expect the redi Go 1000cc AMT version to have a sticker price of around ₹ 3.8 Lakh.

The 0.8-litre variant offers an ARAI mileage of 25.17 KMPL. Quite obviously, the 1.0-litre variant won’t be as frugal. However, we’re still expecting a maximum mileage of around 24 KMPL from the AMT model. Our guess is based on the Kwid AMT’s mileage figures.

It comes mated to a 5-speed Manual Transmission. On the other hand, the 1000cc engine outputs 67 BHP and 91 Nm. The engine will get a 5-speed Manual and a 5-speed AMT.

Datsun redi Go 1000cc Review – Exterior Design
The only additions that the redi Go 1000cc variant is likely to get are a set of new badges and graphics. Other than this, it will look much like the regular 0.8-litre variant. Speaking on the Redi Go, Shiro Nakamura, SVP and Chief Creative Officer, has commented,”Although Datsun redi-GO Concept is just that – a concept – it shows clearly the way we are thinking. It’s an ambitious styling exploration but, being a Datsun, it is a logical design, too.” This radical design study builds up on Datsun’s design language by being modern and distinctive, clear and robust, and vigorous and positive. In essence, the new Redi Go brings together the practicality associated with a five-door hatchback with the stance of a typical rugged SUV. Yes, the Redi Go is a precursor to an all-new small crossover for car markets like that of India.
Highlights of this design study are- short overhangs, crossover-like body and twin character lines running along the side profile. There are attractive pair of headlamps and daytime running lights too. The taillamps incorporate LED fixtures.
Datsun redi Go 1000cc Review – Interior Design
Unlike the very stylish exterior, the interior of the Redi Go is not very distinct and flamboyant. It gets an unconventionally-styled dashboard that surely stands out. However, the Redi Go does get a covered glove compartment and stylish bits like a fancy speedo console. You also get acres of space (remember, this is an entry-level car). 4 full grown adults can sit comfortably in the car and the Redi Go is definitely more spacious than the likes of the Maruti Alto.
