Delhi Police registers FIR in JNU violence case


Sources in Delhi Police said that the police registered an FIR on Monday in connection with the violence at Jawaharlal University. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections relating to damage to public property, and rioting. Several students were injured after mob violence inside the university. 23 students admitted to the hospital have been discharged. In which the president of JNU Students Union Aishi Ghosh, who was injured in the violence in the university, has been discharged from AIIMS on Monday. On Sunday, Ghosh suffered head injuries in the campus violence. JNUSU alleged that it was hit by stones and sticks by members of the ABVP associated with the RSS.

With the large-scale deployment of security personnel along with the authorities, security has been enhanced in the campus, only students with valid ID cards are allowed. According to sources, security was deployed outside hostels, administration blocks and other important places. The entry of outsiders including media has also been banned. Delhi Police is likely to hand over the JNU violence case to the Crime Branch. The police has identified some miscreants targeting students and teachers at the JNU campus on Sunday night.
