‘Dynamite’ debuts at #1 hot 100, BTS becomes first South Korean act to top the chart

With over a quarter-million downloads sold in the first week, garnering over 101 Million views on YouTube making it the biggest debut of all time, and Biggest Spotify global debut of 2020, BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ makes its #1 debut at Billboard hot 100 this week.

BTS have raised from the level of k-pop ‘idols’ and proved themselves to be much more than that, once again. From sold-out stadium tours to charting on the biggest music charts and becoming the ‘First act in history’ , ‘First korean act in history’ of many records, they have grown from the bottom and given us a true example of what organic growth is like.

With the decision of creating ‘Dynamite’ fully in English, the track received a boost on the radio plays which is rare for non-western artists considering the deep rooted xenophobia which exists in the industry.

Ever since BTS entered the western music market with their organic growth and hard-work, they have worked twice as hard as their fellow western artists. They and their fans have fought against the gatekeeping of the western industry which, in fact have robbed the group of many deserving opportunities.

The group has charted multiple of their songs on a single chart, set examples of ‘longevity’ with zero media support, really low radio support and of course, proved themselves and their music in a market where white-privilege has robbed many deserving acts of opportunities.

With Dynamite and the #1 hot 100 under their belt, BTS once again have proved themselves and their dedication towards music – they did it all with 0 bundles and any other ploy which is, in fact very common among other western artists.

There are truly no limits as to what BTS and their fans can do, and it’s scary- for others.
