Mohammad Gaus, the father of Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj, died on Friday (20 November). Gauss was 53 years old and was suffering from lung disease. Coming from a poor family, Gauss had put everything at stake to make his son a cricketer. He made Siraj a cricketer by cutting his stomach. The fast bowler, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, may make his Test debut in Australia next month, but his father will not be able to see it.

Siraj is yet to return to India, given the quarantine rules due to coronavirus. He is in a bio-bubble with Team India. Earlier, during the IPL 2020, the father of Kings XI Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh passed away. They too could not return to India seeing the rules. Mohammad Gaus supported his son Siraj’s ambitions despite limited resources. He drove home by driving an auto. Siraj delivered a sentimental message after the father’s demise.

Siraj said, “This is shocking. I lost the biggest support of my life. It was his dream to see me playing for the country and I am happy that I could fulfill his dream and give him happiness. “Siraj’s father did not give much. Despite this, the money was not allowed to come in between the dreams of the son. He drove an auto on the streets of Hyderabad and drove the son from the small streets to the big stadium.

Siraj’s team RCB tweeted, “Our heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to Mohammed Siraj and his family for losing their father.” The entire RCB family is with you in this difficult time. Stay strong, Mian. “Siraj has participated in 1 ODI and 3 T20 for India. He has taken 3 wickets in T20. The first match for India was played against New Zealand in 2017 in Rajkot. He has taken 39 wickets in 35 matches in the IPL.
