Former Supreme Court judge Ranjan Gogoi, who gave a historic verdict on issues like Ayodhya Ram Mandir, was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP in Parliament. After taking the oath, the former Chief Justice met former President Venkaiah Naidu in Parliament. Former Chief Justice was nominated by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Many opposition parties, including Congress, are attacking Rajan Gogoi’s Rajya Sabha and are raising various questions on the former justices. The angry opposition leaders walked out of the House even during the oath of former Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi in the Rajya Sabha.
After the swearing in of Ranjan Gogoi, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad welcomed him in the Narendra Modi government. Law Minister said that it has been an old tradition for eminent people from different areas to come to Rajya Sabha, including many former judges of Supreme Court. Ravi Shankar Prasad further said that we are confident that Ranjan Gogoi, who took oath today, will give his full contribution in Parliament.
