Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is celebrating his 34th birthday today. He was born on 17 September 1986 in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Ashwin has played 111 ODIs, 71 Tests and 46 T20 Internationals for India so far. He has taken 365 wickets in Tests, 150 in ODIs and 52 wickets in T20s so far.

Ashwin has a total of 567 wickets in all three formats. Ashwin’s international cricket career has been brilliant and his name holds many records. We are referring here to five records of Ashwin.

First record – Ashwin was the man of the match in his debut test match. Ashwin is the fourth Indian cricketer to be named Man of the Match in his Test debut.

Second record – Ashwin tops the list in terms of the fastest 100 Test wickets. He completed 100 wickets in the 18th Test match before this record was in the name of Erapalli Prasanna who had done this feat in 20 Tests.

Third record- Ashwin is the Indian player to take 50, 100, 150 and 200 wickets in the lowest matches in a Test. He is ranked No. 1 in the world in terms of the fastest 250 and 300 wickets.

Fourth record- Ashwin has done twice to score a century and 5 wickets in a Test match. Both times Ashwin has done this feat against the Windies. He is the only Indian cricketer to do so.

Fifth record – R Ashwin has been named Man of the Series six times in Test cricket. He is also ahead of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in this matter. Sachin and Sehwag have won the Man of the Series title five times.
