Here’s why that chandi ka warq on sweets is bad for our health

In India, festive season is about to begin with Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi etc coming soon. With that one thing that you will see a lot on markets is silver coated sweets. Silver or gold warg is an old tradition in India. It was used as an antimicrobial astringent. Though, things have changed especially when it comes to the quality of things that we eat. The standard of the silver coat or chandi ka warg has also degraded. Also there are other reasons that shows they are unfit for consumption.

Here are those reasons:

Poor Quality Of Silver- People should know that there are different qualities of silver coat available in the market but even if they claim that they use only silver many shop vendors sell sweets coated with a mixed or impure warg.

Unsanitary Conditions– It plays an important role in food preparation especially in the current situation where you don’t want to put anything unsanitary in your system. Unhygienic and unsanitary conditions in workshops can hamper your food safety.

Manufacturing Process- According to the reports there were cases in the past that leading manufacturers of silver warg used a certain method to prepare that they have caused distress to some consumers. Producers like hammering a leather punch filled with silver strips, putting silver inside the guts of oxen and buffalo and beating them to get certain thickness and using modern machinery which are not very healthy and hygienic way of making silver foil and turn silver coated sweets unfit for the consumption.
