Honda Cars India Limited has stopped production at the plant located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This plant, wholly owned by Honda Motor Company of Japan, was established in 1997. That is, after 23 years, there will be no work in the plant of Greater Noida. The company produces the City, CR-V and Civic models at the Greater Noida plant. It can produce one lakh vehicles annually.

However, the company’s corporate headquarters, components department and research and development department will continue to have other functions. The company has not immediately commented on stopping production. Let us tell you that this year Honda introduced VRS for the employees of its Greater Noida factory.

The company had said that it is taking this step to increase the productivity and efficiency of the factory. The factory has been agreed with the labor union on this plan. The scheme was open from 28 January to 17 February 2020.

Sources said that at present, the company will depend on the Tapukra plant in Rajasthan for its entire vehicle range. Honda Cars had earlier this year introduced the VRS, a voluntary retirement scheme for people associated with the plant, to increase productivity and capacity of the plant. The Tapukra plant has a capacity of 1.8 lakh vehicles annually.

Recently, Honda has announced to recall a large number of its cars globally. The company is recalling these cars due to safety flaws. In this episode, the company has recalled the most cars from the US.
