I don’t have any obstructions from my party when it comes to working in films says BJP MP Ravi Kishan

Actor and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Kishan, who is playing the role of Osho Rajneesh in a forthcoming film titled ‘Secrets of Love’, has said that he doesn’t have any kind of obstructions from his party when it comes to working in films. He added saying that he will continue to serve people as an elected public servant but he will also keep on working in films at regular intervals.

Ravi Kishan was interacting with News Helpline on the sets of ‘Secrets of Love’ on Thursday in Mumbai.

Ravi Kishan currently serves as Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur. He predominantly works in Bhojpuri and Hindi cinema, as well as Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films.

Talking about managing his time as a politician and as an actor, Ravi Kishan said, “I will keep doing films in regular intervals. I think apart from politics, my fans want to see me on the big screen. I don’t have any kind of obstructions from my party when it comes to working in films. I do my job as a member when my party needs me but when I feel that I should entertain people, I will work in films because whatever I am today is all because of my identity as an actor.”

‘Secrets of life’ is based on the life of Osho Rajneesh, who also known as Acharya Rajneesh and Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh was an Indian godman, mystic, and founder of the Rajneesh movement.

During his lifetime, he was viewed as a controversial new religious movement leader and mystic. In the 1960s, he travelled throughout India as a public speaker and was a vocal critic of socialism, arguing that India was not ready for socialism, and that socialism, communism, and anarchism could evolve only when capitalism had reached its maturity. Rajneesh also criticised Mahatma Gandhi and the orthodoxy of mainstream religions.

Rajneesh emphasised the importance of meditation, mindfulness, love, celebration, courage, creativity, and humour – qualities that he viewed as being suppressed by adherence to static belief systems, religious tradition, and socialisation. In advocating a more open attitude to human sexuality, he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as “the sex guru”.

Talking about the film, Ravi Kishan said, “Today, it’s the last day of shoot of this film. I have worked in around 650 films till now and since the last 30 years, this country has blessed me and loved me in every film across different film industries. When the makers of this film approached me for this film, I asked them ‘why do you want me to cast in this film?’ then told me that they observed similarity between my eyes and Osho’s eyes. They convinced me by narrating the storyline of the film. They have done a lot of research on his life to make the film.”

He added, “In this film, we will reveal the unknown side of Osho (Rajneesh) to the audience. The film starts in Madhya Pradesh where he spent the initial years of his life. We stopped the film’s shooting during lockdown and today, I am shooting the remaining portions of the film. We don’t want to do much publicity for the film because it’s not a film which can be defined in words; I feel the audience would connect with it when they watch it in theatres.”

When asked Ravi Kishan what he knew about Osho Rajneesh as a person while shooting for ‘Secrets of Love’, he said, “I feel he (Osho Ranjeesh) found himself very early in his life. I think he found answers of all questions be it about life, death or salvation and that’s why he had calm demeanour and he celebrated his life in own way.”

‘Secrets of Love’ is directed by Ritesh S Kumar and produced by Veljibhai Gala. The film stars Ravi Kishan, Vivek Mishra and Jayesh Kapoor in key roles. It is slated to release in May 2021.
