India becomes the 60th country to allow Sputnik V vaccine, so many crores of doses will be made annually

Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) says that India has become the 60th country to approve the use of Sputnik V against the coronavirus. RDIF said that more than 85 crore doses of the vaccine are going to be produced annually in India so that 42 crore people will be vaccinated. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has registered this vaccine for emergency use.

This vaccine is being made in partnership with Dr. Reddy Laboratories in India. A statement said that the vaccine would be used for a total of 3 billion people or about 40 percent of the global population and has become the 60th country to grant permission from India. India is the most populous country to vaccinate and is also a major production center for Sputnik V.

Noting that India is a vaccine-manufacturing hub and a strategic partner for the production of Sputnik V, he said that RDIF has partnered with several leading pharmaceutical companies in India to produce Sputnik V.

It has been said, “More than 850 million doses of Sputnik V are going to be produced in India annually, which is enough to immunize more than 425 million people worldwide.” Sputnik will be the third vaccine used in India against the coronavirus.
