Pakistan’s senior cricketers Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Aamir have been informed that they will now get match fees to ‘A’ category cricketers. Actually, these four do not have a central contract. Earlier, they were being paid at par with ‘C’ category cricketers. According to the information, these four players had questioned the match fees in front of the Board’s CEO, Wasim Khan.

The four players had told Wasim Khan that he was being treated unfairly despite not getting a central contract and he was not being paid the top-class match fees of senior players. Sources familiar with the matter said, “Earlier, due to not having a central contract, they were being paid match fees for the C-category players, which cost around Rs 2,02,000 (Pakistani) and T20 Internationals for the ODI. There is a provision for a lesser amount for this.
He said, “Now all the four players will get match fees equal to A category players. It has a provision of Rs 4,60,000 for ODI and Rs 3,30,000 per match fee for T20 Internationals. “The board, however, rejected another request from the players, in which they are in the overseas T20 league due to being with the national team. Had sought compensation for not participating.

He said, “The board has said that it cannot provide any compensation for this and the players have to give priority to national duty.” Hafeez was recently named in the Sri Lanka Premier League after being included in the squad for the tour of New Zealand. He had to withdraw from it, causing a loss of about one crore rupees. The board also rejected his plea to join the team late on the tour to New Zealand.
