The Bharatiya Janata Party’s nationalism and the Shaheen Bagh issue did not work in the results of the Delhi Assembly elections 2020. It is not ours but the trends coming during the counting of votes. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is in favor of victory in counting of votes.
Kejriwal’s victory is a setback for the BJP as 350 Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha, including PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, campaigned fiercely in the capital elections and claimed their victory.
Thousands of women are protesting against the CAA-NRC in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. In Delhi elections too, the issue was in full swing. Many BJP leaders including Yogi Adityanath, Pravesh Verma, Kapil Mishra made very controversial statements. Even the Election Commission has given notice but do not accept the BJP leader. The BJP hoped that perhaps this issue would be rooted out but it did not appear to happen.
Nationalism was also a big issue in elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded the people about the surgical strike, air strike on Pakistan. After the NDA government came, the army also claimed to be strong. But somewhere, people could not be attracted to the nationalism and CAA protests, whose impact was completely reflected in the election results.
