Though, they must not be aware of its side effects while preparing certain foods. Preparing some foods in a pressure cooker kills the nutrients of the food and makes it unhealthy. Also preparing starch-rich food in a pressure cooker can be unhealthy.

Here are food items which you should never prepare in a pressure cooker:

Rice- It  is the most common prepared food items which is cooked in a pressure cooker. Though its very harmful as it creates a harmful chemical called acrylamide which leads to harmful diseases when prepared in pressure cooker. Also having rice cooked in pressure cooker can lead you to weight gain.

Potatoes- Many of us boil potatoes in a pressure cooker as it is the quickest way to boil it. Though potatoes have starch and they shouldn’t be cooked in a pressure cooker as they can be harmful to your health and can lead to diseases like cancer and numerological disorder.

Pasta- Pasta is also rich in starch and should not be cooked in a pressure cooker as it can put your health at risk. So it should always be cooked or boiled in a pan.

Well, there are foods which shouldn’t be cooked in cooker. Whereas there are other food options which can be safe and beneficial. Preparing food in a pressure cooker helps in reducing the lectin content from the food which is a harmful chemical that reduces the nutritional value of the food by absorbing the minerals.

Pressure cooker comes with advantages and disadvantages and you can always experiment and try different cooking methods.
