Nitish Kumar’s Minister, Facing Probe, Quits Hours After Taking Charge

The education minister in Nitish government Mewalaal Chaudhary resigned from his post on Thursday. Chaudhary took charge today. Mevalal was unable to remain a minister for 72 hours and resigned. He is accused of scam in appointment as VC of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. Apart from this, the opposition also demanded an inquiry into Mewalaal’s alleged involvement in the suspected death of his wife. Mewalaal Chaudhary’s wife Neeta Chaudhary died of burns in 2019.

The case of corruption dates back to the year 2012 when the university was to recruit agricultural scientist, assistant professor. In the same year, an advertisement for 281 posts was taken out and 166 people were appointed after the examination. Since then, the appointment case has been in controversy. Allegations were made and it was revealed that whoever got the lower number in the examination was surpassed and the candidate who got the higher number was failed. Regarding these allegations, Mevalal Chaudhary said that no charge sheet has been filed against me nor the court has proved the charge against me. There are no allegations against me.

Earlier, Chaudhary was attacked by RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav when he was made the education minister. On the official Twitter handle of Lalu Prasad Yadav, he tweeted that “While Tejashwi was committed to giving 10 lakh jobs in the first cabinet with the first pen, Nitish made Mevalal a ministerial scandal in the first cabinet, his priority. Look at the irony that the BJP was searching for Mevalal till yesterday, today we have been silent on getting Mewa. ”

In the case of the suspected death of his wife, Chaudhary has said to file a 50 crore lawsuit against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He had said that I will send legal notice to Tejashwi regarding the manner in which allegations are being made in the case of my wife’s death and will also file a defamation suit of 50 crores.
