According to the report, the number of leopards in India in 2018 was 12,852, out of which 3,421 leopards were found in Madhya Pradesh. Their number is 1,783 in Karnataka and 1,690 in Maharashtra. Only 141 leopards were found in the northeastern mountainous region.
