Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Tuesday. In his address through video conferencing, he praised Vivi for the positive work done during the Corona period. Said that AMU played an important role during the Corona crisis. The MMU campus is a mini India in itself. It is an invaluable heritage of the country. Its students are everywhere in the world. Urdu is taught on campus on one side, Hindi on the other. The university also carried out social responsibilities along with it.

According to Modi, “The way AMU helped society even during this Corona crisis is unprecedented. Getting thousands of people doing free tests, building isolation wards, creating plasma banks and contributing a large amount to the PM Care Fund shows the seriousness of fulfilling your obligations to society. ”

He further said that in the last 100 years, AMU has also worked to strengthen India’s relations with many countries of the world. Research conducted here on Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages, research on Islamic literature, gives new energy to India’s cultural relations with the entire Islamic world.

Modi also said that the government’s focus is on education, empowerment of Muslim daughters. According to him, “Earlier Muslim daughters had a school dropout rate of over 70%, now it has come down to around 30%. Lakhs of Muslim daughters used to drop out of education due to lack of toilet, now things are changing. ”

“Today, all the people who have been trained from AMU are not only in the best places in India but in hundreds of countries of the world,” he said. The educated people of AMU represent the culture of India, wherever in the world. ”

Interestingly, after 56 years, a Prime Minister’s speech was held in AMU. According to ANI editor Smita Prakash, “Before Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri addressed the AMU then.” However, some media reports said that on the one hand there was excitement about the PM’s address in the university administration and students. On the other hand, a section of students opposed the Prime Minister’s speech.
