Rapper Divine aka Vivian Fernandes has collaborated with OTT giant Netflix for their upcoming film titled ‘The White Tiger’. In his social media post, Divine revealed that he did a promotional song called ‘Jungle Mantra’ for the social drama film along with American rappers Pusha T and Vince Staples. The song is produced by Karan Kanchan.
Sharing the poster of the song on his Instagram handle, Divine wrote, “Did a song for #whitetigernetflix with some of my fav rappers from the world @kingpush @vincestaples @netflix @priyankachopra @rajkummar_rao #comingsoon‼ prod by @karankanchanmusic @gouravadarsh”.
This is the second time Divine has collaborated with Netflix. Earlier, he contributed to the soundtrack for ‘Sacred Games’, an Indian Netflix Original Series. It features his song ‘Jungli Sher’ as well ‘Kaam 25’ produced by Indo-Canadian producer Phenom which was made specifically for the series.
Its music video was released on 14 June 2018 on both Divine’s and Netflix’s YouTube channels with the version on Netflix featuring English subtitles.
Divine’s first two independent music albums ‘Kohinoor’ and Punya Paap’ garnered tremendous positive response from the audience and music lovers.
Divine most notably contributed to the soundtrack of the 2019 film ‘Gully Boy’ by Zoya Akhtar, a film which is inspired by the lives of rapper Naezy and himself, with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Divine and Naezy both helped as consultants to get an authentic representation of the Hip Hop culture for the film.
Divine has also contributed to music albums of films like ‘Mukkabaaz’ (2018) and ‘Blackmail’ (2018) and Tamil film ‘Rum’ (2017).
‘The White Tiger’ is directed by Ramin Bahrani, adapted from Aravind Adiga’s 2008 novel of the same name. The film stars Adarsh Gourav in his first lead role, with Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The film will release via Netflix on 22 January 2021.
