Sachin Tendulkar told how 18 years ago he had invented the upper cut, South African veteran’s balls were blown away

One of the greatest batsmen in the world, Sachin Tendulkar has revealed how he invented the uppercut. Cricket fans loved this shot of Sachin. After him, Virender Sehwag played it in the best way. Sachin said in a video on YouTube channel that he never practiced the shot separately nor did he specifically plan to play the shot.

On the question related to this shot, Sachin said, “Uppercut is a shot I did not practice. It was the first time on a tour of South Africa in 2002. We were playing a test match in Bloemfontein. There Makhaya Antini was consistently shot. The ball always went out. In South Africa, if the bounce was high, the ball would go away from the body. We often say that go above the ball and if someone bounces a height player like me, it becomes difficult to go above the ball. So it was better to hit the ball under the ball than go up. ”

Sachin said, “In a Test match, there is no fielder on the third man. So I thought instead of keeping him (the ball) down, play a shot at the third man with the bowler’s speed. If a fast bowler has to throw a dot ball, he does more than the short ball. I used to hit that short ball. I never planned on it. It happens naturally by going to the wicket very often. ”
