There has been speculation for many years about Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he will enter politics. However, Trinamool Congress, the party of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, does not want them to enter politics. TMC MP Saugata Roy has said that he would be disappointed if the former Indian captain took such a step. It was believed that Ganguly would contest the next year’s West Bengal assembly elections, but he himself rejected it.

Saugat Roy said in his statement to India Today, “If they join politics, I will not be happy. Sourav was not just the captain of Bengal but is the ideal of all Bengalis. He is also popular because of his TV show, but Sourav has no background in politics, he will not be able to serve in politics. They do not know about the problem of the country and the poor here. He has nothing to do with poverty and the problem of laborers. ”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to give a tough fight to the Trinamool Congress in the Bengal elections. He is not getting any face for the post of Chief Minister in the election. There were speculations that the BJP was in talks with Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of Team India. Reacting to this, Roy said, “The BJP has failed to find a face for the chief minister’s post, hence spreading such rumors.”

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also refused to take the decision to appoint BCCI President. In an interview, he had said that there was no agreement with Sourav Ganguly on the post of BCCI president. Ganguly became the chairman of the board in October last year. It was then reported that he became a board president with the help of the BJP and would instead contest elections in Bengal on behalf of the BJP or campaign for the party. However, it was rumored by Sourav himself.
