The Delhi government has announced a night curfew in the wake of rising Kovid-19 cases in the national capital. It will continue from 10 am to 5 am till 30 April. In Delhi, 5,100 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours. These are the most single-day cases after 27 November (5,482 cases). Health curfew will be exempted from healthcare workers and government officials on essential, emergency duty. Those traveling to airports, railway stations and interstate bus terminals are exempted.

Except in the case of a medical emergency, those traveling by private vehicles will not be exempted. According to the ANI, in view of the night curfew, Delhi Police checked the vehicles under security check from 10 o’clock last night. In the photographs, the policemen were seen doing security checks of the vehicles in Dhaulakuan. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “In view of the increasing cases of the corona, I have a meeting with the health ministers of 11 states. Those who are not following the Kovid instructions have to be dealt with strictly. Vaccination has to be developed as a movement in the country.

Since Delhi has started vaccination round the clock, those visiting the vaccination centers will be allowed with e-pass. Delivery workers and those who work in grocery stores or shops that sell food, medicines and medical equipment have also been exempted.

The DDMA has also clarified that services and transportation of goods will not be affected. Neighbors Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad have not imposed any night ban so far, although cases are increasing in these areas as well. However, the Chandigarh administration has also decided to impose a night curfew. Delhi has seen a sharp increase in the cases of Kovid in the last month. It is among those cities in the country which have high cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are currently 14,579 active cases in Delhi.
