The BJP has often surprised the selection of its candidates and chief ministers. Now the BJP has declared a raid for the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka as a Rajya Sabha candidate. After Ashok Gasti’s death from Corona, a seat is vacant here. BJP has selected 63-year-old K Narayan as the new candidate for the by-election.

Narayan hails from a backward caste Dewanga or weaver society in Karnataka and till now he did not have any special identity in the Karnataka BJP. He runs a printing firm called Span Print. The Sangh Parivar is strongly influenced by his work. He publishes a magazine called ‘Sankashan Sandesh’ which works to promote Sanskrit. Apart from extracting this magazine for many years, he has been involved in social work in coastal Karnataka.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said, “I heartily congratulate K Narayan. He has been the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha. ”The decision seems to be based on the party’s recent policies. In fact, BJP includes BS Yedurappa very rarely or less in matters outside the state. Rajya Sabha elections were held in Karnataka in June 2019. Even then the top leadership of the BJP did not listen to BS Yeddyurappa.

Yeddyurappa suggested the name of longtime party worker Erna Kadari as the candidate. He used to come from the Lingayat community. But the BJP gave Ashok Gasti a chance. It is believed that the nomination of Gasti and Narayan was done at the behest of the BJP’s national convening secretary BL Santosh. He hails from Karnataka. A by-election for a Rajya Sabha seat will be held on 1 December in Karnataka.

Ashok Gasti died at the age of 55 after being infected by Corona. He hailed from Raichur and was a grassroots activist of the BJP. He was elected unopposed Rajya Sabha member. He was an active member of ABVP. He was related to Savita Samaj.
