TMC heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari may join BJP during Amit Shah’s Bengal visit

Trinamool rebel leader Suvendu Adhikari is going to join BJP on Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Bengal. According to BJP sources, Shah will be in Bengal on December 19-20, where the officer can be inducted into the BJP. Let me tell you that TMC’s strong leader Suvendu Adhikari resigned from the cabinet last month, since then it was believed that he could join BJP just before the assembly elections in Bengal.

It has been reported that Home Minister Shah will address the rally in three districts during the Bengal tour scheduled on Saturday-Sunday. These include East Midnapore, from where Suvendu Adhikari’s father and two brothers are Lok Sabha MPs and MLAs. Suvendu himself is also an MLA from the Nandigram seat. BJP source says that it is expected that the officials will join the BJP only during the East Midnapore rally. However, the source also said that they have backtracked from joining the BJP twice before.

Some sources said that Suvendu Adhikari is considering coming to New Delhi on Thursday to talk to the party leadership before joining the BJP. Significantly, on Tuesday, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya came to meet Suvendu Adhikari on his birthday. Since then, the speculation of the officer joining the BJP was intensified. The officer’s colleagues say that the way for him to join the BJP is being cleared. It is reported that he may resign from TMC on 17 or 18 December.

BJP sources have admitted that joining the BJP by Suvendu Adhikari will be a big benefit for the party, as the officer’s image is clearer than other TMC leaders and he is considered the leader of the state. His departure from the TMC government has already hurt the party, so the Mamata Banerjee leadership is trying to convince him to change his mind. Significantly, Suvendu Adhikari is considered to have a good influence on 40 assembly seats in six districts of Bengal.
