Amid dissatisfaction with leadership in Congress, Ghulam Nabi Azad has once again raised questions about the functioning of the party. During an interview, Azad, one of 23 leaders who wrote letters for organizational change, said they were “raising issues as reformists, not as rebels.”

The Congress leader said that the defeat of the by-elections in Bihar and other states cannot be blamed for the party’s top leadership. He said that the reason for the defeat was that the Congress leaders are completely cut off from the common people. Congress leaders should give up 5-star culture at least during elections. Azad said that as soon as our leader gets tickets, the leader gets to book a room in a 5-star hotel. Leaders should be aware that such elections cannot be won.

The leaders avoid going into the rough road. He said that unless we change this culture, the situation will not change. On the question of the party’s revolt, Azad said that there is no rebellion here. He said that rebellion is one in which it is said to remove it. In rebellion, the Emperor of Emperor along with the army would revolt. To kill or defeat the king, he is called a rebellion.

He said that what we are doing is an improvement. If the king is not doing it right then the wazir is saying, sir, you are not doing it right. The opponent has this bet, he can be defeated. The real wazir will be the one who will tell the king the reality that in this you can even die.

On the change in the organization, he said that there is a huge gap between people and Congress leaders at the district, block, and state levels. The party’s involvement with the public should be a continuous process, not just during elections. He said, “We should elect PCC, DCC and BCC, and a program is very important for the party in this regard.

Talking for the first time after the party’s poor performance in the Bihar elections, Azad said that leaders should visit the state with state leaders. They should not stay in five-star hotels only and return. He said, “Every leader should have knowledge of each assembly constituency. Just going from Delhi and staying in five-star hotels and returning to Delhi after two-three days is nothing but a waste of money.
