Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Board (UPSESSB) has ordered the cancellation of notifications of 15508 recruitments of TGT and PGT teachers. The board is said to have taken this decision after legal opinion. Actually, it was found wrong to adopt two criteria to give ad hoc and fresh candidates marks in the same written test. In addition, the exclusion of TGT biology also brought legal hurdles. For other reasons also, it was decided to cancel the recruitment notification.

Let us know that in the month of October this year, UPSESSB Prayagraj had given vacancies for 15508 posts of TGT and PGT teachers. According to the then notification, 12913 posts were to be recruited for TGT and 2995 for PGT. For the first time in the recruitment process, a provision was made to give ten percent reservation to candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker (EWS) category.

However, the Supreme Court on Wednesday gave a big gift to the candidates preparing for the government recruitment examination. The top court allowed the Uttar Pradesh government to recruit 69,000 assistant basic teachers on the basis of the results announced in May.

A bench headed by Justice UU Lalit dismissed other petitions, including a petition by the Uttar Pradesh Primary Education Friends Association, challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order to retain the cut-off marks for the selection of assistant basic teachers. The Sangh and several other ‘Shiksha Mitras’ challenged the Uttar Pradesh government’s order of January 7, 2019.

In this order, it was said that to pass the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Exam 2019, the general category candidates will have to get at least 65 percent marks and reserved category candidates will have to get 60 percent marks. The bench said in its order that it has lodged the report of the state government that the ‘Shiksha Mitras’ who failed to pass the examination will be given one more opportunity to sit in the contest in the next election.
