Actress Lori Loughlin Jailed with Husband over College Scam
The “Full House” actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, the famous fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli have been given a sentence for 2 and 5 months in prison over a college scam of $500,000 that involved their participation in the fraud college admission scheme.
The actress broke into tears as she rendered an apology to the US District Judge Nathaniel Gorton in Boston for the “dreadful decision” she made to help her daughters to obtain an “unjust and partial advantage” in the college admission process and get themselves enrolled in the college of their preference.
Both her and her husband were sentenced after pleading guilty in May to wrongfully engaging in a fraud scheme that reserved spots for their daughters at the University of Southern California as fake athletic recruits.
The couple engaged in the heinous crime through a “blatant” scheme that involved rich parents, including the actress and her husband conspiring with the Consultant of the California College Admissions to secure spots of their children in top schools and colleges by the unjust practice of bribing and fraud.
The actress is deeply shameful of her conduct and said “I am truly, profoundly and deeply sorry, and I need to make amends and face the consequences” during the hearing via video call because of the ongoing global pandemic.
