Cancellation of VS ramp shows and why it is right.

In the hurly burly of life the issues those we have to personally deal with; it seems we should support the cause in favour of Victoria’s secret runway getting shelved, with all those skinny models not so significantly found in our usual social dos – nor in ourselves.
Our normal experiences are usually an assortment of sizes, shapes, colors and textures, also, personalities.

In our subconscious a subtle play runs too; that gets overshadowed by the fact that a first impression is always about a pictorial representation or a visual expression, not a spiritual one. We really miss out on great, amazing, weird, stupid, good, pathetic personalities that could be travelling in the same metro rides, damn first impressions! Shouldn’t Victoria’s Secret be more like the secrets she hides as a being than the secrets she hides in her physical body (which doesn’t even remain secrets anymore on the ramp) – if Roy Raymond’s philosophy could ever be re-interpreted or re-casted!

Personally, we have had to deal with the unfortunate and unreasonable moments of being unsure about ourselves (considering physicality too) due to society’s constant unaltered nags about our so called shortcomings and flaws in our physique. As though the gentry in our society were ever so *Herculean* (adhering to their very own standardization) enough, whether it being physically, mentally or emotionally, or in any other terms! Oh yes, but in such false self-created ‘social’ belief what it says instantaneously becomes an axiom and has to be accepted indubitably by everyone. Well, given the kind of show that Victoria’s Secret airs, surely doesn’t make us feel any better about ourselves. If the brand’s goal is to

connect with female folks all around the world, sadly, ‘there is no real connection’.

Let’s understand what constitutes in making a Victoria’s Secret Angel (as all featured models of Victoria’s Secret models are bracketed as). A generic VS angel has to be 34-24-34 and between 5’8’’ to 6’ tall and beautiful (Most of us don’t even remember what is the definition further). Now, how about a 40-34-48?

Well, but they do sell lingerie of these sizes (and more) too in their stores, so, why can’t such important segments be showcased on the ramps too? As because they don’t meet the requirements for a “defined” Angel!! Not all of us are long legged, thigh – gapped, super slim ladies. Oh well, but can that decide for us that we have no wings at all?! By God, these standardized beauties from time long down past is probably a huge denial of the beauty of natural randomness and spontaneity. How can perspectives be so straitjacketed in nature? How can the entire world unquestionably subscribe to the Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Stephen Marquardt, who considers Bella Hadid as the most ‘beautiful woman’ in the world using the age old convention of the ‘Greek Golden Ratio’ frame of reference?
