New Zealand has banned the entry of passengers coming from India. According to the PTI report, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today a temporary ban on the entry of all passengers arriving from India for nearly two weeks from 11 April due to the escalation of Kovid-19.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Ardern said that the ban will begin on Sunday and will continue till 28 April. The PM said that the government will assess the danger arising from other countries most affected by Kovid-19. There have been 23 new cases of coronavirus in New Zealand, out of which 17 infected people came from India. After which this restriction has been imposed. The PM has described it as a temporary step.

PM Modi held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the states today. According to the media report, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not attend the digital meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the situation of Kovid-19 with the Chief Ministers. Sources said that Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay will be present at the meeting.

In Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Kerala and Punjab, cases of Kovid-19 are increasing daily and 84.21 percent of the 1,26,789 new cases of infection reported in the country. These are in 10 states. The Health Ministry said that the rate of coronavirus infection in a week in the country has increased from 2.19 to 6.21 percent to 8.40 percent for the first seven days of March and April respectively.

The total number of positive cases has increased to 1,29,28,574 in the last 24 hours after the arrival of 1,26,789 new cases of COVID19 in India. After 685 new deaths, the total number of deaths has increased to 1,66,862. The total number of active cases in the country is 9,10,319 and the total number of discharged cases is 1,18,51,393. A total of 9,01,98,673 people have been vaccinated with the Coronavirus in the country.
