IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals set an embarrassing record, captain Shreyas Iyer blames bio-bubble
Delhi Capitals have suffered a defeat against Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Delhi team has reached the playoffs for the second consecutive season and now have to play Qualifier-2 for the second consecutive season. He defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator match last year. After this, they were defeated in Qualifier-2 against Chennai Super Kings. This time in Qualifier-2, the team will face the winner of the eliminator match between Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Delhi team had a disappointing performance in the first match of the playoffs i.e. Qualifier-1. The team won the toss and called Mumbai to bat. Rohit Sharma’s team made 200 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs with a stormy performance. In response, the Delhi team could only manage 143 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. At one time, the account of the Delhi team was not even open and three of its batsmen had returned to the pavilion. For the first time in the IPL, three batsmen of a team were dismissed for a score of zero. Earlier in 2009, Deccan Chargers team lost 3 wickets for 1 against Chennai Super Kings. After this embarrassing record in the IPL, Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer said that he will not do evil to his team. Iyer blamed the bio-bubble for this defeat. He said, “I don’t want to talk anything negative about the team, but next we have to get on the field with a strong mindset.” It is not easy to adopt the same routine every day by staying in a bio-bubble. We worked hard. ”
On the other hand, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma called it his team’s best performance this season. He said, “I believe this is our best performance ever. The way we showed our intentions. The way Quinton de Kock and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) batted after losing wickets in the second over. The way we finished and then bowled brilliantly. We never set the goal in mind.
