IPL 2021: Kings XI Punjab changed its name to Punjab Kings- Report

Kings XI Punjab, one of the eight IPL franchises, has changed its name. It is being told that during the IPL season this year, the franchise will call itself Punjab Kings. For this, a formal notice has been given to the BCCI by the franchisee. The report claims that it has also been approved.

According to the Cricbuzz report, no confirmation has been made in this case by any franchisees or by the IPL officials. But the report claims that Kings XI Punjab has changed its name. The franchise has planned a grand re-launch in Mumbai ahead of the February 18 auction. The franchise will be renamed as Punjab Kings after the auction in Chennai. Let the BCCI address the teams in the recent internal communication, KXIP as the Punjab Kings.

The franchise, owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul, has not been able to hold the league title even once in its 13-year history. The team is definitely a runner-up once.

At the same time, the report also claims that the officials of the franchisees participating in the auction have been issued an order to remain quarantined for some time. In an advisory sent to the teams a few days ago, the BCCI stated that before being screened in their respective rooms, they would (on 17 February) undergo a rapid antigen test, followed by an RT-PCR test for COVID. All persons will have to remain quarantined in their respective rooms until the results of RT-PCR test are available.
