On receiving information about the presence of at least three terrorists, including Pandit, in the area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation here.

He said, “Notorious Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mudassir Pandit was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore. He was recently involved in the killing of three policemen, two councilors and two civilians.” Pandit was wanted in several cases, including the murder of two BJP councilors and a policeman.
