Police have imposed Section 144 in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddhist city (Noida) till 30 April. The order said that in which unauthorized protests have been banned, along with the Kovid-19 protocol such as social distancing and warnings of action against people for not wearing face masks in public places. According to the order, these restrictions have been imposed in the wake of upcoming festivals like Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Good Friday, Navratri, Ambedkar Jayanti, Ram Navami, Mahavir Jayanti, Hanuman Jayanti amidst the COVID-19 epidemic.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) Ashutosh Dwivedi said “the possibility of obstructing law and order cannot be ruled out by anti-social elements during these occasions. According to the order, COVID-19 protocol is followed in public places during this period” It has to be done. It has been said that no one will be allowed to roam in public places with sticks, rods, or firearms.

The order states that “no one shall be allowed to hold protests, processions or hunger strikes without the permission of the authority nor will they encourage anyone else to do so.” During this period, the police have completely banned incidents like celebrating and drinking alcohol in public places. The order warns that those violating restrictive orders under Section 144 of the CrPC will be prosecuted under Section 188 of the IPC. ”
