The deadline for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar ends today on 31 March. If you fail to do so today, then your PAN card is likely to be invalid. According to Finance Bill 2021, you can also be fined Rs 1,000 for this. All such PAN cards which are not linked to Aadhaar will be declared inactive and inactive after the expiry of the deadline. If your PAN is not linked to your Aadhaar, then from April 1, you will not be able to do any financial transaction.

If you are not sure whether you have linked your PAN with Aadhaar and want to make sure that the process is complete, you can check the status online.

1. Go to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ under the Quick Links section.

2. Click ‘Click’ Red and Blue blinking at the top of the new page.

3. On the next page you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number and PAN number.

4. Enter the Aadhaar number and PAN and the portal will indicate the linking status

How to link your PAN with your Aadhaar card online

To link your PAN to Aadhaar, you can visit the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department (INCOM TAX). Click on the link base section on the left. You have to fill PAN number, Aadhaar number and name. Click on the ‘PAN Link Aadhaar’ option and your PAN Aadhaar linking will be completed. The Aadhaar I-T department will validate your name, date of birth and gender, after which the linking will be completed.
