UP: the UP government is not giving funds for cows, the sarpanch said – If we do not get money by 25th Dec. then we will set 15 thousand cows free

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started the ‘Gaushala Project’ to build a shed for animal husbandry. But now the government is not providing funds for cows. According to a report by The Telegraph, the funding of the Gaushala project has been stopped for the past several months. Due to which animals are dying.

More than a dozen panchayat chiefs of Banda district in Bundelkhand have written a joint letter to Adityanath threatening to release about 15,000 cows. Panchayat chiefs say that if they are not given the cube and their dues by December 25, they will start releasing animals from the cowshed. “We have been running 43 cowsheds since 2018 when the state government built cowsheds for abandoned animals,” the letter said.

In the letter, the panchayat chiefs said that after April 2020 we have not received any funds. We are running a cowshed on our own. The chiefs said that the hope is that the funds will be released soon. Gyan Singh, a leader of the village head association of the district, told reporters, “Our tenure as gram panchayat chief will end on 25 December. We will then release the cattle so that they do not die of hunger in the cowshed. ”

Gyan Singh informed that 15,000 stray cows have been kept in 43 sheds. After 25 December, the panchayat chief will hold his post as caretaker till the upcoming rural elections. The election process is to begin next week. According to government officials, the state government has to pay Rs 30 per cow per day to the gram panchayats. However, for unclear reasons, most districts have not received funds since February this year.

The Yogi government of UP allocated Rs 613 crore for cow welfare for the financial year 2019-20 in February last year. No such funds have been allocated for the current financial year.
