West Bengal Election 2021: Voting has started for the fourth phase of the assembly elections in West Bengal today. From the morning, people were seen standing in line to cast their votes at Alipurduar’s pulling booths 195, 196 and 196-A. In the fourth phase of the West Bengal assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to voters, especially youth and women, to vote in record numbers. Officials say that voters started voting in the fourth phase of the West Bengal assembly elections at 7 am on Saturday, amid tight security.

Before voting, BJP candidate from Kolkata Tollygunge, Babul Supriyo said, “Removing Mamta Didi and TMC from West Bengal is the biggest challenge.” Arup Biswas (TMC candidate from the constituency) has been the right-hand man of all his works. Therefore changing the atmosphere of terror here is a challenge.

Today, voting is going on in nine seats in Howrah district, 11 in South 24 Parganas, five in Alipurduar, nine in Cooch Behar and 10 seats in Hooghly. Over 1.15 crore voters will exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 373 candidates, including Union Minister Babul Supriyo and state ministers Partha Chatterjee and Arup Biswas.

Tight security arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful voting, in which 789 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have been deployed at 15,940 polling stations. Elections for 294 assembly seats in West Bengal are being held in eight phases. Votes will be counted on 2 May.

Home Minister Amit Shah took part in a colorful roadshow at Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal on Friday. Shah, riding on a vehicle adorned with BJP’s election symbol ‘Kamal’ and other flowers, shook hands during the roadshow and greeted the crowd.

In this road show, about a kilometer out of the city, a huge crowd of people gathered on Ghoshpara Road, which was following the convoy of vehicles. According to PTI, during the roadshow, people holding BJP flags and green balloons raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Amit Shah Zindabad’.
